Teams: workspaces, roles and invitations

Available on the Agency and Provider plansUpdated October 2026

A workspace holds your links, spaces, reports, API keys and plan. Everyone starts with a personal workspace. Create a team workspace to share previews with colleagues, give each person a role and keep one bill for the whole team, or invite teammates straight into your personal workspace.

On this page

Personal and team workspaces

Open the workspace switcher at the bottom of the dashboard sidebar (in the menu drawer on a phone) to see every workspace you belong to and switch between them. Choose Create team workspace to add one; you become its owner. You can own up to 10 team workspaces.

Billing is per workspace. A new team workspace starts on the Free plan with a single seat, even if your personal workspace is on a paid plan, so upgrade the team workspace itself on Billing while it is selected. See Plans and billing.

Team settings live under Team in the sidebar.

Who sees what

Links, spaces, QA reports and visual compares belong to the workspace, not to the person who created them. Everyone in the workspace sees all of them; their role decides what they can change (see Roles). When someone leaves, their work stays in the workspace.

Your personal workspace works the same way: once you invite someone into it, they see its links and reports too. To keep a link to yourself, make it private: only you then see it and its reports. To keep everything to yourself, use a workspace nobody else belongs to.

Rename a workspace

Your personal workspace is named after you when you sign up, so teammates you invite into it see your name in their workspace switcher. Give it your team or company name instead:

  1. Select the workspace in the switcher

  2. Open Team → General

Only the owner can rename a workspace; admins and members see the name read-only.

  3. Type the new name and click “Save name”

Up to 80 characters. Everyone in the workspace sees the new name straight away.

When you invite the first teammate into a personal workspace that still has your name, DNSPeek suggests a rename in the invite dialog and on the Members page, so you can do it right there. Dismiss the suggestion if the name is fine; it stays hidden for that workspace in this browser.

Switch to your own workspace

Joining someone else's workspace never moves your own links. Open the workspace switcher at the bottom of the sidebar and pick the workspace marked Personal in which you are the owner to get back to your own links. Choose Make “…” my default in the same menu to pick the workspace you land in after signing in.

Roles

RoleCan
OwnerEverything, including billing, renaming, transferring and deleting the workspace, and granting the admin role. Each workspace has exactly one owner.
AdminInvites and removes members and viewers, approves join requests, manages domains, API keys, notifications, branding and policies, and reads the activity log and usage. Admins can delete any link or space.
MemberCreates and edits links, spaces, QA reports and visual compares. Deletes only the links and spaces they created.
ViewerRead-only: sees links, reports and comments, changes nothing.

Every role sees the links shared with the team. A link its creator marked private is visible only to that person, whatever their role; owners and admins do not see it either. See Private links.

Invite teammates

  1. Open Team → Members and click “Invite member”

Owners and admins see this tab.

  2. Enter the email address and pick a role

Only the owner can invite someone as an admin.

  3. Your teammate accepts from the email

The invitation link is valid for 7 days. They must sign in (or sign up) with the invited email address and confirm it. Resend sends a fresh link and cancels the old one; Revoke cancels the invitation.

Colleagues on your company domain can also join on their own. See Company domains.

Seats

Every member counts as one seat, viewers included, and so does every pending invitation. When all seats are taken, invitations and join approvals are refused until you free a seat or upgrade.

Remove a member or leave a team

  • Remove: on Team → Members. Admins remove members and viewers; only the owner removes admins. Nobody can remove the owner.
  • Leave: on Team → General, click Leave workspace. The owner cannot leave; transfer ownership first.

Either way, the person’s links, spaces, QA reports and visual compares stay in the workspace and are handed to the owner, and the API keys they created in that workspace stop working. Their private links become shared links, so the owner and admins can see them. A verified company domain does not add them back when they sign in again: only a new invitation (or an approved join request) does.

Transfer ownership or delete a workspace

On Team → General, the owner finds Ownership & deletion:

  • Transfer ownership: the new owner must already be an admin. They get full control, including billing; you stay on as an admin. The plan and subscription stay with the workspace.
  • Delete workspace: removes every link, space, report, API key and member of the workspace for good. Cancel a running subscription in Manage billing first; a workspace that is still billed cannot be deleted.

Personal workspaces cannot be transferred or deleted.
