WhatsApp alerts

Available on the Agency and Provider plansUpdated September 2026

Some alerts should reach a phone, not an inbox: DNS has propagated at 2 a.m., a client approved the launch, a payment failed. The WhatsApp channel sends DNSPeek events to a verified phone number.

On this page

Connect a phone number

  1. Click “Add WhatsApp” on Team → Notifications

Owners and admins can add WhatsApp channels.

  2. Enter the number and a name

Use the international format with a plus sign and no spaces, such as +380501234567. The name, such as “On-call phone”, is only shown in DNSPeek.

  3. Enter the 6-digit code

DNSPeek sends a code to that number on WhatsApp. It is valid for 10 minutes and allows 5 attempts. A workspace can request up to 5 codes per hour.

The channel is created with every event ticked; narrow it down in the events matrix. The full number is stored encrypted and is shown masked, such as +380•••••4567. To change the number, connect a new one and delete the old channel.

Unsubscribe with STOP

The person who owns the phone is always in control. Replying STOP (or UNSUBSCRIBE) to a DNSPeek message turns off every WhatsApp channel for that number, in every workspace. The channel card then says the recipient sent STOP.

Admins cannot switch such a channel back on. The recipient sends START to get alerts again.

Monthly message quota

Every message WhatsApp accepts counts towards the workspace’s monthly quota: alerts, test messages and verification codes (a code that could not be delivered is given back). The counter resets on the 1st of each month (UTC); the Notifications page shows how much is left.
